How Galeri Caernarfon Transformed Its Supporters' Scheme with Direct Debits and EPOS Integration

By pairing Ticketsolve Pay with a seamless EPOS integration, Galeri Caernarfon replaced a box-office-only membership with a modern, automated scheme that runs smoothly across the whole venue.

Galeri Caernarfon is a vibrant not-for-profit community enterprise and development trust located in Caernarfon, Wales. As a long-standing Ticketsolve Community member, Galeri presents a rich artistic programme, running a dedicated theatre-cinema alongside multi-purpose event spaces, creative workspaces and a busy cafe and bar.

At the heart of Galeri's venue operation is a commitment to local engagement and exceptional visitor experiences. For years, the trust offered a traditional membership scheme named Prima. While Prima provided valued ticket discounts for venue regulars, they were only able to sign members up via the box office, which limited its reach and potential.

A new membership for Galeri Caernarfon

Galeri wanted to revamp Prima into a broader, more rewarding scheme called Prima+. The goal was simple: offer members discounts beyond event tickets, specifically adding percentage savings across food and non-alcoholic drinks in the cafe, bar and kiosk.

However, delivering these additional discounts presented an obstacle on an operational level - one which frequently crops for arts venue memberships. Galeri's existing setup provided no clean, automated route to ensure membership benefits could also be read at EPOS tillpoints. Every potential solution they evaluated relied heavily on manual intervention.

To allow a member to be able to avail of their discount, food and beverage staff would have needed to manually match names and memberships, remember complex discount rules or adjust bill totals during busy service times. The process was clunky, time-consuming and there was a risk of human error. For a busy venue where fast counter service is essential, it was simply not viable.

The Ticketsolve Solution

The breakthrough came when two separate timelines converged. Galeri was already preparing to upgrade its venue EPOS system when Ticketsolve announced the development of a native EPOS integration with Point One. Recognising the opportunity, Galeri selected Point One and designed their new Prima+ membership scheme directly around the integration.

'Once we realised that there was integration that could really work for us, that made all the difference.' - Eiri Pennington, Operations Manager, Galeri Caernarfon

To ensure frictionless redemptions, Galeri designed physical Prima+ cards in-house, purchased blank stock and installed a compact card printer at the venue. Each card features the member's name alongside their unique Ticketsolve customer number rendered as a scannable barcode. Scanning the card at any Point One till automatically applies the appropriate discount, eliminating manual inputs entirely. Before opening the scheme to the public, Galeri thoroughly tested the entire customer journey and till integration on internal staff members to refine every step.

What Prima+ looks like now

Prima+ launched just before summer 2026 as an annual membership priced at £30 per year. Most members have chosen to pay using annual recurring Direct Debit, set up through Ticketsolve Pay, providing the venue with predictable recurring revenue while removing manual renewal admin for box office staff.

When members join online, discounts apply automatically as soon as they log into their Ticketsolve account. When visiting in person, members present their printed Prima+ card at the till or counter.

Members enjoy:

  • 10% off food and non-alcoholic drinks across the cafe, bar and kiosk
  • 10% off full-price cinema tickets
  • 10% off full-price tickets for opted-in live events

Beyond public members, Galeri extended Prima+ as an internal staff benefit and made it available to internal and external tenants across the development trust. Across paying members, staff and tenants, the scheme now encompasses more than 250 membership accounts.

'The Prima+ membership sort of just manages itself on our website, which has been really easy.' - Eiri Pennington, Operations Manager, Galeri Caernarfon

The in-house card printing process has also enabled Galeri to elevate its customer service. Members receive a physical welcome pack, which can be posted directly to their home if requested. The sleek membership cards also act as visible word-of-mouth marketing around the venue and local community.

In their words

The feedback from venue regulars and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the added food and drink perks.

'I think the offer for food in the cafe was the real change from the old to the new.' — Eiri Pennington, Operations Manager, Galeri Caernarfon

Automating signups and payments through Ticketsolve Pay has significantly reduced back-office administration while preventing errors at the point of sale.

'Ticketsolve Pay has made our admin lives a little bit easier. With the integration, there is less margin for human error.' - Eiri Pennington, Operations Manager, Galeri Caernarfon

Looking ahead, Galeri is exploring expanding the scheme to include creative workshops, introducing a corporate scheme for local businesses and potentially offering a monthly Direct Debit option in the future.
